WELCOME TO FACE D'OR
The Face d'Or residence offers 4 luxury apartments with hotel service. Our property, designed in collaboration with architect and artist Heinz Julen, houses a professional music studio, luxury apartments and Wellness Rooftop. This unique combination of modern design and facilities creates a cozy, creative, and artistic atmosphere. The apartments and the wellness area are named after songs.
Magdalena and Joel welcome you to enjoy a peaceful stay in the mountains and admire the golden face of the Matterhorn at the end of the day.
ART, DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
Heinz Julen, an internationally recognised architect and artist, conceived various projects in Zermatt and worldwide, including such renowned hotels as Cœur des Alpes, Focus, the Backstage, and many others. Art and beauty are very important to the host couple and are therefore reflected in the interior design. The apartments include many furniture pieces designed by Heinz, especially for the project, as well as his famous chandeliers. In addition, the artist Chiara Angela Pagani (@sschiarabocchio) was invited to create original works for the building.
AN ECO-FRIENDLY VISION
The house is heated by thermal probes. We also supply part of the electricity needs through the roof, which is entirely covered with photovoltaic panels. Noble materials such as wood, glass, and metal were chosen for the design. We collaborate with local partners and suppliers whenever possible. For example, our guests can enjoy local products from town and the valley at breakfast.
WELLNESS - WAYS OF WATER
At the top of the residence, you will find a 70m2 wellness area, ready to offer you a unique moment of relaxation. This sanctuary of serenity, decorated in natural tones, offers a sauna and a steam room. You can relax by immersing yourself in the outdoor jacuzzi with a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. Our selection of teas is available to you on this journey of relaxation on the in and outdoor loungers, that invite you to extend your well-being.

OUR STORY
Magdalena and Joel conceived and created this family project with their hearts. Since their childhood, both have been immersed in the world of hospitality. Magdalena grew up at the Bella-Tola Hotel in St-Luc, a flagship of Valais hospitality. Just like her parents, Anne-Françoise and Claude Buchs, she studied at the Lausanne Hotel School. In 2016, she met Joel and joined him in Zermatt. In 2020, Magdalena and her sisters-in-law Romaine and Simone opened the Manud café/restaurant in the village centre.
As for Joel, the eldest son of hoteliers Leni and Thomas Müller of the Cœur des Alpes, he raced on the slopes of the European Cup until 2018, then ended his skiing career to focus on his other passion - music. He performs with his sister and cousins in the bands Wintershome and Sky of Augustine. He shares his passion for skiing as a highly regarded and respected instructor in winter.
In December 2024, the Face d’Or opens its doors. Magdalena and Joel move into these places with their two sons, Elouan and Matthieu, and look forward to welcoming you into their home.
